If, like me, you remember the swinging 60s, you will recall long hot summers; that first kiss; falling in love for the first time, maybe. And you will remember Rock & Roll, the phenomenon that changed the attitude of young people throughout the world.

You might remember a 60′s pop group named The Applejacks, whose top ten single ‘Tell Me When’ rocketed into the charts and who practised in St Mary’s Church, which figures a lot in Splinters the novel. In December 2010 The Applejacks reformed for a one-off reunion concert – as a big fan, I took the initiative to hire a film maker to video the reunion concert; and you can now buy a very special DVD of The Applejacks reunion concert, here on my website.

The Applejacks had been asked to reform several times over the years, but refused until the need to raise funds for a new roof for St Mary’s came about. They duly performed at a one-off reunion concert in December 2010.

People from places as far apart as Cornwall and Scotland came; one chap, who heard Brian Mathew give the gig its only plug on Radio 2, stopped what he was doing and travelled to Birmingham, as did a lady in Switzerland. The place was packed out, and it was three days before I could walk properly again! having danced too much. Tony Sheppard

Hi Tony, Thank you so much for your quick dispatch of my order, Re: THE APPLEJACKS, reunion concert DVD. I came across your web site just surfing internet for info on THE APPLEJACKS, as i do a lot. I am a big fan, play their music all the time, and DVD of them in the 60s. I am new at computers and internet so only found out about the concert 2 wks after they had done it. I was gutted that i had missed it, i would have been there. I Love the DVD, Christine Davis, February 18, 2011

Wonderful DVD, brings back so many memories of my younger days when i used to travel everywhere to see the group whom i knew so well, in particular AL JACKSON who I worked with in Olton as a hairdresser. Dave Painting, May 1, 2011

The concert was a blast from the past. The Applejacks rekindled their old magic, it was a memorable evening that appeared to be enjoyed by all who attended, and it was a pleasure to be part of such a nostalgic evening. Alan Horton, February 16, 2011

    Hi Tony,
I have just watched the DVD of the concert and I was so pleased to see the reaction of the audience after all these years.

I was married to Al Jackson many years ago and I was at our son’s home in Australia when the concert was on or I would definitely have been there. I still see Gerry occasionally but not Phil, Megan or Don and it was so good to see them all and remember all the happy times we had through the 60s and after that. Thanks for the memories.

    Kind regards Gill

    Hi Tony,
Thanks for the speed in getting the DVD to me.
The Applejacks were always my favourite band of that era, and being the proud owner of their (vinyl) album, I came to realise that they were every bit as good at belting out rock’n'roll numbers as they were with the more commercial sound of their singles. It’s clear everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves at the concert; how I wish I’d known about it, and what an achievement to get almost the complete original line-up back together – can’t think of any bands who’d be able to have done this. As for the DVD, it was wonderful, and they and their hits have certainly stood the test of time. Congrats to all of them – they have done themselves proud!

Went out with Martin Baggott very briefly in the 60,s and still treasure the picture we had together along with the rest of the band..Where has he got to these days and what is he up to..Thanx Rhonda

Wow, it is truly amazing that they did a reunion concert with the whole band. So few bands can boast more than one original member. Many not even that.
I only just started to get into this band since researching about The Honeycombs. They were terrific.

  7. This is absolutely fantastic! Thank you very much Tony for delivery of the Applejacks Reunion Concert DVD. Could not believe how fast it arrived to me after ordering! This is indeed a piece of history that I will treasure and recommend to anyone else who loves The Applejacks. Megan had invited me to this concert but I was unfortunately unable to go as I live in Canada. At least I can now see and hear it as if I was there.

I saw The Applejacks at The Marine Ballroom Evesham just after Tell Me When made the charts. I was 15 and immediately fell in love with Megan. I and a few pals were lucky to meet her and the others after the show. I was amazed at the kindness and the time they gave us. I was wearing a dog check overcoat with a black velvet collar and Megan told me, the band had had it designed. It made me feel really good. Thanks for some great memories. Now I’m going to buy the dvd. Hopefully it will play in Louisiana.

Hi Tony, Thanks for the quick delivery of the DVD, I being 21 a few times over remember their hit and used to hear it played at Davenports “beer at home” pub in Hurst Street B’ham. Then I saw Megan playing at the Chequer’s Pub Hints Hill Staffs when we lived in Tamworth, and in 1997 we moved next door to the Davies Family in Castle Lane and I saw Megan many times as she lived close by. A lot of happy memories. Best wishes John
